At Opportunity Baptist Church, we invite you to visit with us at our Sunday and Wednesday services. Although, we are somewhat traditional and informal in our worship services, we have a comtemporary outlook and forward-looking vision. That vision is to help our community get to know and follow Jesus Christ.

If you are looking for a church home where you can worship, learn, grow, and serve, please visit us or contact us for more information. Also if you are looking for more information on what the Christian life is all about, we would love to talk with you. So please visit or contact us. We look forward to meeting you.

Slow Down and Know God

  • Opportunities to Serve

There are times when we need to sit quietly and allow ourselves to be ministered to. There are times too, when we should serve others as we follow Jesus. Opportunity Baptist Church provides opportunities to serve in different capacities according to your interest, abilities, and with the gifts God has given you. Whether you are interested in outreach, organizing special events, mentoring, or some other area, we will help you find a place where you can minister and serve others as you grow in your relationship with Christ. Perhaps you would like to get involved, but are not sure where you would like to volunteer. The answer is to just try different things. That in itself can be an exciting and rewarding adventure. As you serve in whatever areas you find of interest, you will soon discover the unique place God has for you in our church.

Famous Thoughts on Prayer

Robert Murray McCheyne

"What a man is on his knees before God in secret, that will he be  before men: that much and no more." -Robert Murray McCheyne

C.H. Spurgeon

"Whether we like it or not, asking is the rule of the Kingdom. If you  may have everything by asking in His Name, and nothing without  asking, I beg you to see how absolutely vital prayer is." -C. H. Spurgeon

William Carey

"Prayer - secret, fervent, believing prayer - lies at the root of all personal godliness." -William Carey

Gordon Cove

"There is absolutely no substitute for this secret communion with  God. The public Church services, or even the family altar, cannot  take the place of the 'closet' prayer. We must deliberately seek to  meet with God absolutely alone..." - Gordon Cove

Norman Grubb

"Prayer meetings are dead affairs when they are merely asking  sessions; there is adventure, hope and life when they are believing  sessions, and the faith is corporately, practically and deliberately  affirmed." - Norman Grubb

A.W. Tozer

"I want deliberately to encourage this mighty longing after God.  The lack of it has brought us to our present low estate. The stiff  and wooden quality about our religious lives is a result of our lack  of holy desire. Complacency is a deadly foe of all spiritual growth.  Acute desire must be present or there will be no manifestation of  Christ to His people. He waits to be wanted. Too bad that with  many of us He waits so long, so very long, in vain." - A. W. Tozer

R.A. Torrey

"Out of a very intimate acquaintance with D. L. Moody, I wish to  testify that he was a far greater pray-er than he was preacher.  Time and time again, he was confronted by obstacles that seemed  insurmountable, but he always knew the way to overcome all  difficulties. He knew the way to bring to pass anything that needed  to be brought to pass. He knew and believed in the deepest depths of his soul that nothing was too hard for the Lord, and that prayer  could do anything that God could do. " - R. A. Torrey

Samuel Logan Brengle

"All great soul-winners have been men of much and mighty prayer,  and all great revivals have been preceded and carried out by  persevering, prevailing knee-work in the closet." - Samuel Logan Brengle
